A day in april 1981 at the National Museum Holland
In april 1981 I took a photo of this group of people at the "Rijksmuseum" (National Museum) in Amsterdanm. The painting in the background is "The Samplers" by Rembrandt van Rijn, our most famous painter. Look how quiet the museum is! Looks like the covid year.

Guild”, painted by Rembrandt van Rijn,

Museum those days. Now it is quiet too, for the time being I hope.

just me again?
I cannot resist myself in shooting this kind of photographs. Some sort of pictural suicide. Amsterdam, 18-21-8, 3.28 pm.

Follow the Icon (4)
A sign
of a advertisement lightning sometimes turns out to be an icon for my
photography. As a young boy of 5-6 years old I was always gazing at boxes with “Trix-Express”
trains in the shopping windows of “Galeries Modernes” at the Vismarkt (Fish
Market) in Groningen (NL). Turning around at the hand of my father I saw that
huge sign at the opposite of the square. It was for the assurance company RVS.
It consisted of a man with a walking pointing at the letters RVS, a small dog
and a woman with a black umbrella. That umbrella impressed me very much. Some
30 years later I shoot a series “Umbrellas in the streets of Amsterdam”. Until
today I often find umbrellas at my photographic path. Up: This was the advertisement
sign, at the top of the walking stick one could see the letters RVS. Middle:

It was very
quiet in the Foam museum. But the atmosphere was great, almost
serene.....And yes I liked the portrait exhibition 'van Loon' , and couldn't
quite understand the function of the enlarged test strips in another
show. Amsterdam, 1.37 pm.

March 14.
The
experiment today was about a relationship between a panoramic format
and a relatively long exposure time just to capture the feeling of a
passing rally against the high housing rents in Amsterdam. I
must say that I fully agree with the purpose of the rally. It is an
outrageous shame how housing rents are increased to a point that most
people just cannot afford. At the other hand house owners are
supported in many ways. Amsterdam 2.45 am.

Cycling
home I saw this abandoned night terrace. I fell in love with the
three red balls, which functioned as some kind of a romantic
illumination. By the way it was one of the finest days of the year
until now. Amsterdam 7.40 pm.
