Jo Hameleers

My friend Jo Hameleers is a very gifted painter. I always photograph his paintings. Doing that, I can’t resist making some pictures in his workshop, which is to be found at an attic in one of the old canal houses in Amsterdam. Beautiful spot, a bit cold during winter time.

Lezing

Gisteren hield Germen Oosterhof, vriend sinds jaar en dag een lezing “de vrouw als lady. de man als dandy” over 1 van zijn passies: de schilderkunst van de 19-e eeuw. ’t Was boeiend, nauwgezet, informatief en van tijd tot tijd van een wonderbaarlijke schoonheid, die vaak nog verrassend actueel leek. De schilder Alfred Stevens stond centraal. Maar ook Breitner kwam voorbij.
Wat mij als fotograaf natuurlijk opviel was het bijzondere licht en de vaak fotografische compositie op veel van de schilderijen die werden getoond.
