Ireland again.

Next fortnight I’ll be a picture taking passer-by in Ireland. If wifi allows I’ll post a photo from time to time. But tomorrow from tropical Holland to fresh Ireland. Lovely!

It often happens to me as a photographer. My reflection in a window or my shadow on the pavement also becomes a wisp of city. Wisp of City

To me it is an everlasting strange phenomenon in a city: So many human beings together who all walk in their own world. Such little attention for their surroundings that they didn't notice me as a long  photographer (over 6 ft). New Exhibition!

Wisps of City.

There’s a new show coming up! From April 1^st I will display some 90 photographs. About how one can feel walking in a (big) city. In a city I often feel a slight alienation. Huge numbers of people, passing each other almost anonymously, commercial posters and lights, tall buildings, suddenly a face in the crowd.

My show is a collection of seemingly fleeting observations made in a.o. Aachen, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Berlin, Bruges, Cork, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Frankfort, Galway, Gent, Lausanne, Louvain, Lisbon, New York, Stettin, Vienna, Zürich, Zwolle.

Where: Window gallery, Franjo Studio, 2^nd van der Helsstraat 41, Amsterdam.

The opening will be at April 1^st , 5.00-7.00 pm.

Small Talk

Some secretive talk after a presentation by Maartje Roos,  the dark haired female photographer in the picture. She’s making photographs like fairy tales herself, maybe that’s what inspired me. Amsterdam 16/01/19 10.50 pm.

Man & Light.

It has been quite a while since I posted something on this blog. Summertime you know. That meant to me a trip to Berlin, doing 4 workshops at www.Buitenkunst.nl , and having a good time with my wife and family. Summer is almost over now so I want to show photographs again on a regular base. I made a lot of photos, but did not find the time to postprocess.

To start today with self-portraits, which have the theme: Man & Light. Sometimes I was almost swallowed by the Light.

June 11 (previous days)

This tree is standing in an area which in April 2010 was almost completely burnt down. The only way to get there is by feet or by bike. Cars are not allowed. It is a strange area, only sand and some trees which were partially left behind by the fire. It feels like being on another planet. Very barren en lost. The tree at the picture is some kind of monument for me. I always stop there for a while.
