June 11 (previous days)

This tree is standing in an area which in April 2010 was almost completely burnt down. The only way to get there is by feet or by bike. Cars are not allowed. It is a strange area, only sand and some trees which were partially left behind by the fire. It feels like being on another planet. Very barren en lost. The tree at the picture is some kind of monument for me. I always stop there for a while.

April 29 (April 24).

It may look like Hawaii on a quiet day, but the picture was taken at the Dutch bathing resort Zandvoort on a rather windy day. Zandvoort, 15/4/24, 2.58 pm.  

February 13.

There was that beautiful contrast at the other side of the canal between the pink roof & the perfect blue sky & the photograph was there. And yes. It was very friendly weather, Spring in the air. Diemen, 4.12 pm.

Last Sunday I revisited the carnival in Maastricht, in the deep South of Holland. As always I was struck by the somewhat surreal atmosphere. For former pictures of the carnival click at the word Carnaval in the labels underneath this message.

Het land langs # 19 (Along the Country Side # 19)

Last Sunday I cycled along the ‘Hondbosse Zeewering’.  It is a seawall against the North Sea. Very strange place. A soon as I arrive at the strip of asphalt at the foot of the I was blown in my face by the enormous space. (You have to enlarge the images by clicking it. Otherwise you could for instance easily miss the seagulls in the right upper corner of the first image.)

Het land langs # 15 (Along the Country Side # 15)

Last Saturday it was beautiful weather. I made a trip on my bike. It is possible to cycle very close to the only steelworks in Holland. The combination of a deep blue sky and the strange scenery gave me the feeling of being on another planet.

Zelfportret # 177-180 (Self portrait # 177-180)

Number 177 I took because I was inspired by the very special color blue.

Number 178 was taken at the occasion of a new jacket.

Number 179 needs a somewhat longer story. Every year in summer I am working for the Dutch foundation “Buitenkunst” (meaning Outside Art). On a special camping site all kinds of art workshops are given. Painting, singing (pop and classical), theatre, dance an yes photography. I am giving photography. I am sleeping a small van. When I want to read a book I use a special reading lamp, which is attached at my forehead. I am using this lamp as an attribute for a special effect in a self portrait. I was a mine worker in 2010, a space man in 2011, this year I moved my head after the flash so a strange trace of light occurs above my head.

Number 180 I took because I liked the small yellow flower.
