Although
nowadays much of the world is not festive at all, people in
Maastricht, a town in the south of Holland, still celebrate carnival.
This picture is made at a bridge in the center of the city where
during over 2 hours a long parade of feasting, singing & dancing
people passed by. Often with messages about politics and other
(local) affairs. Many citizens become jesters during this day. Sometimes people are beautifully dressed. Maastricht, 4.49 pm.

Sunday I revisited the carnival in Maastricht, in the deep South of Holland. As
always I was struck by the somewhat surreal atmosphere. For former pictures of the carnival click at the word Carnaval in the labels underneath this message.

Van Voorbijgaande Aard (40)
(Sommige) compactcamera's & regen: een niet zo gelukkige combinatie. Twee keren heb ik in de regen in Aken gefototografeerd. Beide keren hield mijn g9 er mee op. Batterij zo dood als een pier. Na een nieuwe batterij en een poosje in een droge warme omgeving werd de g9 weer een vriendje van me.Moraal: Een onderwaterhuis?
