Greetings from Diemen NL #15

 -Stairway to Heaven-.

(Often when I go out into my hometown Diemen, the somewhat sleepy suburb of Big City Amsterdam, I take my camera with me. I try to capture accidental beauty and sometimes unplanned alienation of the banal aspects of the everyday scenery. I started to do this from 2004, the year we came to live here, at first in black and white, from 2006 in color.)

February 17.

Went to the Rothko exhibition today with a friend. Overcrowded. To many spectators for paintings which I hesitate to consider as masterpieces. Anyway I went to the Sol Lewitt stairway, and I saw this zebra shirted lady watching her email on the Iphone. Coincidence? Den Haag, Gemeentemusuem (The Hague, Municipal Museum) 1.44 pm.

Last weekend the opening of the new European Apple Store took place. It was like a religious service:
A temple for the Apple believers. Yes, I am using a PC. And yes, sometimes I’m working on a Macintosh. They’re good machines. But they’re not divine.
Anyway, it is a beautiful store. An Apple Cathedral. With a stairway that brings you into the Apple Heaven! (& with your feet back on Mother Earth)

Vanwege Fragmentarische Aard (18)

Dat is ook 1 van de voordelen van digitaal fotograferen: image-stabilisatie. Deze foto is met 0,3 seconde uit de hand genomen. Op de drukke metrotrap had geen statief gepast en ik wilde de bewegingsonscherpte van de voorbijgangers. Maar de geschilderde afbeelding van de reclame moest scherp.
