Puck Fair

At the end of the summer I want to go to Ireland for a photo trip. It’s a good reason to go through b&w photo’s I made some 30 years ago in this country. These were made at the “Puck Fair” in Killorgin.  (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puck_Fair) . First day cattle market, second day horse market, third day just drinking. There were hardly any tourists. The animals freely moved in the streets, between the public. And had a standstill in front of the hairdresser.

Ireland on my mind

Exiting times! Tomorrow Petra & I will be flying to Ireland, a country we did not visit for 22 years. Really wonder if I am caught in the same way by the magic if the country as I was before. Beautiful scenery, very special people. I used to be in love with the country. Made a series of photo’s which I exhibited a lot. All analogue, 35mm, and a lot of working afterwards in the darkroom.

Ierland

Deze foto maakte ik in 1990 bij de “Milstreet Horse Show”. Een festijn van paarden, boeren en Guinness. Deze mannen stonden dicht opeen naar het springconcours te kijken. Om dat opeengepakte te benadrukken, hield ik de camera schuin. De grote hand op de schouder houdt de foto nu in balans. Gelukkige details: het ijsje links, en het vrouwenhoofd wat tussen de mannen doorkijkt.
Vandaag, 17 maart is St Patrick's Day , de nationale feestdag van Ierland.
