1992. I am sitting in my new workspace annex darkroom next to a railway bridge over the a canal in Amsterdam East. A train thumps down the rails about every five minutes. The sound fascinates me. I grab my Nikon with the 20mm, put a low-sensitivity film in it, take a tripod, go outside and stroll along the railway embankment. At the end of the walk I take this picture. A new series is born: Iron Lines. This photo will be on display as a vintage print at the exhibition “Regarding Iron Lines” in Gallery WM in Amsterdam from 2024/1/19 to 2024/2/17.
