Exhibition: "Walls of Night Photography".

An ugly thing, like a storage fuel tank for the nearby powerplant in combination with ugly light of a natrium lamp. Seem to be from another planet at night. Now I use a tripod and a longer exposure time. A tripod sharpens the view, forms the last memory of the concept of the picture. Photo: Diemen (NL), 2009/03/15, 9.01pm
Exhibition: Gallery Streetscape 7 Dorpstraat Castricum NL. Opening Sunday October 14th, 4.00-6.00 pm. Opening hours Fri-Sun 2-5 pm. Exhibition runs until November 4th.

Exhibition: "Walls of Night Photography".

Walking at night on the almost deserted grounds of the Prater in Vienna. There is the technique of digital photography. One does not have to use a tripod or flash., which would only destroy the atmosphere of the situation. Photo: Vienna, 2018/04/27, 9.38pm.
Exhibition: Gallery Streetscape 7 Dorpstraat Castricum NL. Opening Sunday October 14th, 4.00-6.00 pm. Opening hours Fri-Sun 2-5 pm. Exhibition runs until November 4th.

Exhibition “Walls of Night Photography”

This photograph I shot in 1988. We are in Laugharne (Wales), for a long time the town where the poet Dylan Thomas lived. Reason for the picture was the poem “And Death Shall Have No Dominion”. I remember four minutes exposure time, walking around with a torch, and flashing the tombstone, which was not the one of DT. Yes boys and girls, using the reciprocity factor!

Exhibition Night Photography

There’s something strange about spots in the night. Everything that looks normal in daylight often becomes frightening, mysterious or magical in the dark.
Essentially the night is just a big black box in which all kinds of things exist. Things which are natural as well as things which are manmade. Sometimes these things become visible, mostly by artificial light. A feeling of disorientation arises. One knows there’s something out there, but it stays invisible. What’s waiting in the dark? In my pictures this atmosphere is captured. There’s also a distance from everyday life, calmness and concentration; moods which are often to be felt at night.
